Do I need a permit?

  • Events that require permits are the responsibility of the Renter or party holding the event. Direct Rental is considered a contractor for the event. Events held on public property (ie., parks, forest preserves, government buildings) or events on private property with considerable public traffic (churches, businesses, etc) typically will require permits.
  • Each city / village / county has their own rules requiring permits. Please contact DIrect Rental or your municipality to obtain permit requirements.
  • Variances in municipality permit requirements include but are not limited to: Being a licensed contractor in the particular municipality, insurance (limits and varying coverage), Bonding, Event Maps, Tent Flame Certificates and Tent Engineering Certification.
  • Permit Application and Additional insured certificates are available upon request (additional fees may apply).

 

Do I contact utility locating / JULIE?

  • Installer is required to contact utility locating (JULIE in the suburbs) www.illinois1call.com or call 811, City of Chicago https://ipi.cityofchicago.org/Digger.
  • All tent setups that require ground staking are will have utility locating completed a couple of days prior to the event.
  • Water barrel / concrete block anchoring does not require utility locating.
  • Direct Tent and Party Rental will contact utility locate for installations that we set-up. Over-the-counter tents set-up by the renter are the responsibility of the installer to contact utility locate. Allow at least 48 hours

 

What if it Rains?

We allow until the morning of your setup by 9am to decide if you still will be able to use your outdoor rental (typically the inflatables). We do not want you to pay for something that you will not use. If you still decided to go ahead with the rental and it rains, there is no refund or discount. Delivery times may need to be adjusted during rainy delivery mornings. Tents, well... that's one reason people rent them!

 

What happens if I have to cancel my reservation?

Specific item rentals such as tents and inflatables once reserved are unavailable to other customers. Last minute cancellations make it difficult for us to create a reservation. Cancellations with 8 or more days notice will have their entire deposit refunded, 7 days or less will lose their deposit. Tables and chairs do not carry a deposit.

 

What kind of payments do you accept?

We accept Cash, Check, Credit (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and AMEX) and debit cards.

 

When are tents setup?

We typically setup tents the day before your event and take down the following day. Larger events, such as weddings, are setup 2-3 days before the event date to allow for additional decorating and piece of mind. During extremely busy weeks, we may need to adjust the setup to 2 days before the event. Some events that require same day setup and/or takedown (such as those on public property or surprise parties) are scheduled to your needs and in some circumstances may have additional scheduling fees. We may need to adjust the the take down of the tent to a later day, if allowable, if it is raining.
